A Day of Red Flags and Fast Laps
The second day of pre-season testing for the 2024 Formula 1 season ended with Charles Leclerc of Ferrari topping the timesheets in a shortened morning session. A red flag brought the afternoon session to an early close, extending the day's total run time.Leclerc set the fastest lap of the day, a 1:31.024, on the soft compound tires. He was followed by Nico Hulkenberg of Haas and Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin. Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished the morning session in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
The afternoon session was more eventful, with several drivers experiencing technical problems. Williams' Alex Albon stopped on track with an issue, while AlphaTauri's Nyck de Vries suffered a spin. Haas's Hulkenberg also had a minor off-track excursion.
