Burrow Out for 2023 Season
Cincinnati Quarterback Torn Wrist Ligament
Surgery Required, Recovery Timetable Set
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is out for the 2023 season after tearing a ligament in his throwing wrist. The injury occurred in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens and required surgery to repair.
Burrow underwent surgery on Thursday and is expected to make a full recovery. However, he will not be able to return to the field this season. The Bengals are now expected to turn to backup quarterback Brandon Allen to lead the team for the remainder of the season.
This is a major blow to the Bengals, who are currently 7-4 and in contention for a playoff berth. Burrow has been one of the most impressive quarterbacks in the NFL this season, throwing for 2,794 yards and 23 touchdowns. His absence will be a major test for the Bengals, who will need to find a way to win without their star player.
The Bengals will host the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12. It is unclear whether Allen or another quarterback will start in Burrow's absence.
